8th August 2019

I am now beginning to create my edit for the divide. With everything else that is going on right now, I hope to have it finished by the end of August. Stay tuned!

24th July 2019

34 days, 2 hours and 25 minutes! After 2700 miles I have finally arrived at Antelope Wells on the US/Mexican Border. In three words… epic, relentless, unforgiving.

Overall the experience was incredible, I met amazing people, saw beautiful views and rode some awesome trails!

I also managed to raise over £370 for Cardiac Risk in the Young, which I am over the moon with and once again thank all those who donated. Now its time to rest and relax for a while before I get back into preparing for my postgraduate in Modern History at the University of Aberdeen!

19th June 2019

Here we go! I start the divide on the 21st…

As it will be difficult for me to log my daily updates, I have decided to create an Instagram account of my days. I believe that this will be the most effective way of showing my experience!

My JustGiving page is now online! If you can spare any cash to help Cardiac Risk in the Young, then please do.

This amazing charity helps to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors. With them, they establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.

Thought I should mention that I intend to create a movie of my experience of the divide. While I may rest for a couple days when I get home on the 1st of August, I intend to create, edit and post my footage on my site (or youtube).

8th April 2019

I am currently creating my daily splits which are looking to average around 80 miles a day (I expect to do some longer days in order to allow for some rest/exploring days).

My bike specific training will properly commence next week now that my dissertation is finally edited and finished!

20th March 2019

Permission to land. Visas for Canada and USA have been approved. £130 just to get in…

6th March 2019

Accommodation and transfers now sorted. Look out for me at the Banff International Hostel from 19-21st June!

27th February 2019

Flights are now booked. Flying from Glasgow – Heathrow – Calgary on the 19th of June.

My return flight arrives 1st of August flying from El Paso – Dallas- Heathrow – Glasgow (yeehaw).

39 days of riding should be plenty of time to explore and enjoy this incredible route!

22nd February 2019

Maps acquired! 2753 miles, 45,618m of ascent with an average gradient 6.7%. This is going to be epic.

15th December 2018

Although not related to history, I plan to ride the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route in the Summer of 2019.

I am hoping to use this part of my site to keep you updated on my planning before the ride and then progress throughout my adventure. Stay tuned!
